Kukli er lítil skrá, er vefr biðr vafra þinn at geyma, svá at hann þekki þik næst. Hér er einn slíkr, ok aðeins þá er þú skráir þik eða gengr inn: hann heitir sw_session, ok hann segir vefnum at þat er þú. Gengr þú út, eða doyr hann, er hann farinn.

One cookie, and no other
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep so it can recognise you next time. This site sets exactly one, and only when you sign in: sw_session. It holds a random string, not your email address, and its only job is to keep you signed in on that device. Signing out ends it.
It is HttpOnly, so no script can read it; Secure, so it only travels over an encrypted connection; and SameSite=Lax, so it is not sent along with requests to other sites.
If you never sign in there is no cookie at all, and nothing about your visit is recorded by us.
What is still absent
No analytics service, no advertising network, no tracking pixel, no social media plug-in, no embedded video quietly loading in the background, and no third-party cookie of any kind. There is nothing running behind these pages.

Why there is no banner
Cookie banners exist to ask permission for cookies that are not strictly necessary. The one cookie here is strictly necessary: without it you would be signed out on every page. It does no measuring, so there is nothing optional to refuse, and we do not interrupt you with a question.
If a cookie that is not necessary ever appears, the banner goes up before it does, not after.

The one thing kept on your device
The homepage has a sound control, and it remembers which way you left it so it does not ask twice. That setting is stored in your own browser, on your own device. It is not a cookie, it is not sent to us, and we cannot see it. It is simply the site recalling your own answer for you.
That setting, and the session cookie described above, are the only things this site keeps on your device. There is no fingerprinting and no device identification.
You can remove the sound setting at any time by clearing site data — or "cookies and other site data" — for this website in your browser's privacy settings. The site will then simply start silent again.
